We recently completed our Mayan Mosaic Sculpture.  We had it partly installed in time for the International Indigenous Peoples day in Omaha. We worked with n Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim for a dedication of the work Tuesday morning August 9th.  However, we decided to work a little bit more on the Quetzal.  It is now on display in the meditation room of Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim, and is awaiting a permanent installation when weather permits.

The experience was beautiful as we were able to learn about the Mayan culture and the methods used by Sherri Warner Hunt to create her amazing mosaics.

Imagery depicted in the sculpture include a quetzal, a Mayan pyramid, a hieroglyph, and corn.  All of which are sacred ancient symbols to this community.

Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim is an organization that is doing amazing things in our area.  To learn more about them and how you can become part of their efforts please visit pixanixim.org.
